Bebe June Designs is named after my grandmother, Bebe June Bell (née Parrott) aka "Mammaw."

About Bebe June

Bebe June was born as one of six children in Bastrop, Louisiana in 1933 to Earl and Gertha Parrott.

Married Life and Children

In 1950, she met my grandfather, Jerry Bell, aka "Pappaw," at church, and they married in 1951.

Jerry joined what was then called U.S. Army Air Corps (now the U.S. Air Force) in 1952.

Marriage was followed by the births of Sara Elizabeth (my mother) in 1954 and Diana Kay (my aunt) in 1957.

More about Bebe June

After high school (where she also played basketball!), she attended business school and worked as a secretary.

After that, she spent her time raising her girls as a homemaker and active military spouse to Jerry, who retired in 1974 as a Senior Master Sergeant after 22 1/2 years of service.

Once her girls were old enough, Bebe returned to work as a proofreader at West Texas Livestock Weekly.

Throughout the years, the family got to see some beautiful parts of the world with the military and lived in Texas, Crete, and Turkey. Jerry also served in Korea and Vietnam. Jerry served in the intelligence community in Radio Traffic Analysis and Mobile Interception. He also spent much of his career teaching cryptology at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, Texas.

Upon retiring, Bebe and Jerry moved back to San Angelo, and then on to Eureka Springs, Arkansas, where they built a beautiful home in the woods near Beaver Lake.

Why I named my business "Bebe June Designs"

As a child, I grew up spending hours with my "Mammaw" in her sewing and craft room. I owe a lot to her for teaching me a love of arts and crafts. Sadly, though Bebe's life was beautiful, it just wasn't long enough. She passed away from ovarian cancer in 1989 at the young age of 56.

As a result of this, I am committing 10% of my profits to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. Please help support this amazing organization by making a small purchase from my store or, better yet, by making a direct donation.

It is my hope that one day, there will be a cure for ovarian cancer so that no one will have to suffer as my beloved "Mammaw" did.
